London Paralympic Games hopeful Matt Bugg Australian Title |
|
Tasmanian sailor Matt Bugg has successfully defended his Australian title in the International 2.4mR class in which he is expected to represent his country at the London Paralympic Games. The RYCT member won by just one point in a closely-fought series on Canberra’s Lake Burley-Griffin last Sunday and Monday, repeating his performance at Metung, Victoria, last year when he became the first non-Canberra sailor to be national champion in this one-man yacht.

One point win to Glenn Bourke in SB3 Nartionals |

In 1977, as a teenager, Glenn Bourke won the junior Moth dinghy Australian championship on Hobart’s River Derwent. Today he scored another championship victory on a windswept river, the Australian in the SB3 high-performance keelboat class. Steering Club Marine Hamilton Island, Bourke fought back in the ninth and final race to win the title by just one point from another Queensland entrant, Dulon Polish, helmed by Phillip Gray. |

Light winds again mar SB3 Australian championship on Derwent |

Light winds on the River Derwent today again plagued race officials and competitors in the Australian championship for the SB3 sports boat class, with only six boats finishing in race one and race four abandoned. With all racing abandoned on Saturday and only three races completed today, principal race officer Nick Hutton is looking to run at least four more races tomorrow to produce a fair result for the 21 competitors. .jpg) The SB3 fleet got in some sailing but no racing on Saturday.
